These are my favorite supplies to create your own embroidered sweaters. Happy stitching!
Cotton Knit Toddler/Kids Sweater
These are the sweaters that I use. They're 95-100% cotton knit, soft and lightweight. The fit is very oversized, so I do not recommend sizing up. You'll get plenty of wear out of it if you order your child's true size.
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn
This is a nice starter pack. These skeins are smaller than the full size but will be more than enough for your embroidery DIY. If you only want to buy a single skein of yarn, I recommend visiting a local craft store like Michael's. Amazon has limited options for a single skein.
Pastel Colors Yarn Set
The same yarn as above, in softer pastel colors.
Gradient Colors Yarn Set
This color gradient is perfect for doing each letter a different color.
Large-Eye Blunt Steel Yarn Needles
This set has multiple sizes and a needle threader. The two larger sizes will be easier to use with yarn.
Stick N Stitch Self Adhesive Wash Away Stabilizer
This is the only stabilizer I recommend using. You can use these with a home printer, or draw directly on it with pencil or light-colored markers. Don't use dark or permanent markers. You will need to submerge and gently scrub to remove. It will come off completely and leave no sticky residue.
Water-Soluble Marker
If not using Stick N Stitch, you'll need water-soluble markers to draw directly on your sweater. I have used many different brands and this one is my favorite. You can see it even on the darkest color sweaters (except black!)
